This Sunday, Vitally’s church is having an evangelistic outreach service. They’re bringing in a pastor and a worship choir. Basically, they’re having a good ol’ Southern Baptist revival here in Cornesti, minus the Southern Baptist part. A few days ago, I got to see a little more of how much this area needs a revival.
On Wednesday, I wasn’t feeling well so I took a break from the physical labor and joined some of the girls to pass out invitations to Sunday’s church service. After spending about 10 minutes cutting out the invitations, we headed out with a translator to pass out the invitation. Of course, there were about five or six of us, and only one translator so we basically passed them out without a translator. It went a little something like this: walk up to person, say “Buna Zeewa” (Good day) the best you can in your American accent, hold out the flyer, share a couple seconds of awkward staring with the person since they don’t immediately take the flyer, they take the flyer, you walk away. Welcome to the World Race. Haha. Sadly, as we handed them out, we could see how opposed most people are to the church. At one point, one lady threw the invitation on the ground; when Ana, the translator picked it up and tried to talk to the lady, the lady shoved her.
These people are hurting, have hard hearts towards God, and only God can work in their lives. Please be in prayer for this Sunday (the service is at 4 PM local time, 9 AM eastern time). Pray that God will use this time to soften the hearts of the people in this community, and the people will realize their need for Him. Pray that God’s love and His truth will begin to spread through this area.
