There is a song that the worship team at our church sang this past Sunday. I cried the entire way through the song. Tears running down my face as fast as they were coming to my eyes. I had no voice and could barely whisper the words, and my face was contorted into this painful looking gaze that I could not seem to escape. But I wasn’t in pain. It was the exact opposite. That song was annotating my soul’s deepest desires in words I couldn’t find on my own.

Oceans.

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown, where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep, my faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours, and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed, and You won’t start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours, and You are mine

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours, and You are mine

The words are heavy and real. They are asking to be taken to places we aren’t comfortable. To be put in situations where our feet will fail. Where we will fail, But He will notIt is asking to be taken to any place God has called us, no matter how far or how scary. That.Is.Terrifying. It means we give up control. We let go. We keep walking, even when our feet fail, because we are His and He is ours. Our souls will rest in His embrace.

We have been called upon by name to make disciples of all the nations. To go and love our neighbors. And so my soul will sing:

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

Would you prayerfully consider financially supporting Robbie and me as we let go and ask God to lead us where He has called us.
