It is the scariest thing. To be Known. It means you don’t have a place to hide. You are standing in the light while everyone watches you, and knows. Everything.

It is also one of man’s greatest desires. To be Known. It is why we tell others about our life. Why we divulge story after story about our “glory days”. We want to be known. We want people to understand why we say the things we say and why we do the things we do.

But when push comes to shove, are we willing to tell others about our deepest scars? Are we willing to let it all hang out and let everyone else in?

This week we could have been silly, shallow and guarded. We could have kept our lives easy and played games, watched movies, and never left our comfort zone, but as a team we decided to go deeper. We chose to share our testimonies. To be Known. To be vulnerable and let it all hang out; to let others in. After we tell our inner most struggles and triumphs we all lay hands and pray for each other with the most passion and love I have ever been around. No one is left feeling vulnerable and not accepted.

We want to be known. We want to be vulnerable and open and create a place where we can be ourselves; understood and free to just be.

Our hope is to love each other the way that Jesus loves us. To be fully known by our God and each other. I can honestly say that this week has been one of the best for that reason.

It was scary to share everything with 6 other people who only knew what we had portrayed. It was terrifying to think about the judgment that could have followed, but it didn’t. We are free. We are loved. We are redeemed. And our stories, our deepest, darkest secrets, are all apart of the story that has led us to our relationship with Christ and, therefore, they are beautiful.

Did you know that YOU are beautiful? That telling your story won’t be met with Judgment? That being open, honest, and vulnerable can set you free?

Be Known. Seek to truly Know others. You won’t regret it.
