Born to be loved. That’s one of the themes of G42 and a phrase I’ve come to love more and more as it sinks deeper and deeper into my spirit. I was born to be loved. You were born to be loved. Love is not a means to an end it is the beginning, the middle, and the end!

Stop and think about this: You were born to be loved!

Selah!

Hopefully you had to wrestle with that a little. It can actually be a hard thing to accept depending on what we’ve been taught and told our whole lives. But if love is the purpose of life then death is anything that doesn’t lead to love. Death is anything that keeps us from receiving love- which leads to life. And love cannot be received unless it’s, first, given.

YOU MATTER. You were born to be loved. You were born to receive love and born to give love. This matter is about life and death. Everything else is just a symptom or a smokescreen. What brings about life? Those are good things. What brings about death? Those are evil things. And it truly is that simple. The problem is, as humans, we’re usually bad at determining what’s good and what’s evil. We need some help!

God made all things and He said it was good. He knows what’s good. But there was one thing He said was not good: man being alone. Mankind was created to be together in unity. When one group of humans is alone God says that’s not good!! We need to set aside our differences, biases, prejudices, and limited perspectives to stand together in love for life! And when that happens God says, it’s VERY good!

I went to a protest in DC and I saw a lot of things I wasn’t sure about, things I agreed with, and some things I disagreed with. But then I saw a picture of a black and white hand joined together and it said: “We’re stronger together.”

And I thought to myself, “I may not know a lot and I may have a limited perspective, but this good! And that’s something I can get behind!” We’re stronger together! Coming together for life and love, despite our differences, is really good. And you can quote God on that one! Along the same lines, I saw the Lincoln memorial for the first time. I know Lincoln had prejudices and biases himeslf. Yet, he is heralded as a hero of fighting against slavery. And then I realized, Lincoln listened to the voice of the Lord and He trusted it above his own understanding. God worked through Him because he was willing to listen even though He might not understand.

Black lives matter. I guarantee you God agrees with that. Black people were born to be loved. If there are things that are stopping my black brothers and sisters from receiving the love they were born for, I WILL ALWAYS stand in solidarity with them and fight for them to receive that love!

God’s Word is living and active and it’s very present in this situation. God wants to guide us if we choose to listen, belive, and obey. This will bring about change and transformation! It’s what we need.

My challenge to you today is to listen to the voice of the Lord and take Him at His Word and see what happens.
