Hey everyone!  It’s about time that I posted again on here and boy do I have a major update for you all!

This past week our mobilizer, Jessica, sent out an email requesting volunteers to switch to a brand new route that was just created to help even out the number of racers on each squad.  Turns out that 3 of the January 2014 routes had around 200 participants combined, which can cause logistical problems as well as other conflicts resulting from the squads being too large.

While at first I was resistant to the thought of making such a big change to my trip right before training camp, I decided to pray about it.  When I signed up for the Race, I really wanted this next year of my life to be about where God wants me and will use me the most, not about where I want to go and the places I want to see.  After praying/seeking God’s will about the change I really had a feeling of peace that I belonged on this new squad.  I slept on it and called Jessica the next morning to tell her that I would make the switch!

So as of Friday, I am officially part of C squad!  We will still be leaving in January 2014, just going to different countries.  They are – Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Albania, Bulgaria, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia.  It has been so awesome to see this new squad form and to already feel a sense of community with them after only 2 days!  It helps that quite a few of my old squad-mates from Z squad have made the switch as well.

In other news, I will be leaving for a week-long training camp this Saturday, October 12th.  This camp is a time of preparation for my trip.  I’ll get to meet my squad for the first time as well as find out who will be on my team.  I would appreciate your prayers as I prepare for camp this week and as I go next week.  Pray that God will meet us in a real way and that He will work in us to prepare us for ministry this next year.

Thank you all and have a great week!

Rita
