Lemme tell you about Swazis. These people are just wow. Until you fly yourself out here and meet them you won’t quite get it, but ill do my best in showing them off as much as possible.
They smile. A. Lot. They will always shake your hand and then just hold it while you talk, you might both get a little sweaty, but they just want to get close to you, so let it happen. They will take a little while to open up, but once you get chatting they will let you in. They will share the hard stuff. And y’all, they have a lot of hard stuff, life here is far from easy. They will probably be confused why you aren’t married and why you don’t have 30 kids, but you can usually just laugh it off awkwardly. They will not show much emotion, except on rainy days, they hate rainy days, so they will definitely be more grumpy. They will probably just hand their baby to you and walk away so just hold it until you see them again. They like to laugh and can be very sassy so try to drag it out of them if they are being shy. It’s in there. They won’t be able to say your name, but don’t get offended you can’t say their’s either, it’s really okay. They are beautiful. The most beautiful people I have ever seen. They will never show up somewhere looking dirty. Even if they only have one outfit they will wash it everyday so they look their best no matter what their doing. They’ll definitely laugh at you when you try to speak Seswati, but hey at least you tried. Most of their dreams involve going to America to go to a university, if you ask they usually will tell you that they know it probably won’t happen because of money. They always have hope in that impossible though. They know our God is one who does not believe in impossibilities. They will often tell you they love you like 5 minutes after meeting you and it is truly the sweetest thing ever. They are the best people you can know and you will never leave them feeling unloved.
I pray y’all get to meet them someday because the way they live, and the way they love, is exactly the way I think Jesus did it. With no boundaries.
