This blog was written a few weeks before leaving Myanmar, I’m in Thailand now but I still wanted to share… (:

The other morning I was praying and looking at what was around me and the Lord pointed out a little plant growing in between a bunch of rocks and then another one growing out of the post in our kitchen. I asked him what it meant and he said,

“I can make something grow of nothing as long as I get a yes and willingness to grow. I will give it sunshine and rain so that it will be prosperous. My plants need the sun but how much more do they need the rain. The rainy seasons can be rough, I know that because I send the rain. They will get beaten down and maybe lose a few leaves but once the sun comes back out they will be even stronger and more prosperous than before.”

I felt immediately comforted by these words because Myanmar has been a bit of a rainy season for me. I love the simplicity of life here and the people, but that doesn’t mean that the days are not challenging sometimes. It’s life we’re not used to living, with the same people we’ve been with for the past 5 months, and unfortunately an appearance of many different sicknesses throughout us all. It makes me miss home, but then quickly reminds me that the way I am living now is the way some people live their whole lives and that I am truly blessed.

He gave me this verse a few minutes later…

Isaiah 53:11 which says, “After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied.”

Not like I’m “suffering” because that’s dramatic, but I think through this verse he was reminding me that he will bring me out of this somewhat rainy season and show me the sun. He will satisfy me. He promises that joy is always coming and I am confident that his promises never fail.
