A couple weeks back I was eating dinner with our base host Jenna and her sweet little babe Azariah, who is about 5 months old. We were eating this really good potato soup and just talking about life and all that’s going on, when all of the sudden Azariah grabbed her bowl and dumped about half of it on her leg. Immediately her reaction was to use her napkin to wipe off his little fingers. She took no attention to the
scorching hot soup all over her leg until she was sure he was okay. We continued to talk and then all of the sudden he did it again. Obviously we weren’t paying attention very well… but it didn’t matter, she reacted the same. She was never angry, only worried about her baby who continued to dump soup on her. She left that evening with stains on her shirt and leggings, but she was smiling and laughing. It didn’t phase her at all.
I know this story seems insignificant, but to me it was such a beautiful picture of how the Father loves us, just like how Jenna loves Azariah. Jesus spoke to me saying that I was like Azariah. I continue to mess up, I am never perfect, but no matter what I do he will make sure I am okay before anything else. He will let my sin resonate on his clothes as he takes care of me. Nothing is as important to him as I am. He took a lot more than some boiling soup on his leg, but wow am I lucky that he would do it again everyday if he had to.
