So this was obviously written a little while ago but here’s what I was learning!!
So today marks one month until the race is officially over. I was praying that the Lord would give me some perspective and even motivation to finish out this last bit of time here in Swazi, so I opened up my bible and felt like I should read Haggai (if you’re like me and barely knew it was a book of the bible, it’s in the Old Testament and it’s only 2 chapters long.)
So forgive me if I butcher this explanation, but what I interpreted is that it starts in month 6 where God asks the people to rebuild his temple. Then month 7 where he tells them he is with them as they work and that the temple they were building was going to be even more glorious than the last. (Month 8 disappeared I don’t know what happened then lol sorry.) BUT in month 9 the foundation for the temple was laid and he made many promises to his faithful servant.
I feel like this is a sweet representation of my race. It started out as a journey and a mission to work for the Lord, which led to him encouraging me in the work I was doing, which then led to him making many promises to me for my future and a firm foundation for what’s to come. It encouraged me that just because it’s month 9 doesn’t mean his goodness ends, but it actually means there is a lot more coming.
This guy at our training camp in July said this, “it’s not done, but it is finished,” and for some reason it’s always stuck with me. But this morning the Lord switched it and said to me, “it’s done, but it’s not finished,” in reference to the race. The race might be over soon, but that doesn’t mean that my life with him is. Life with him is forever, it can never be finished even though our seasons change.
