First off…I realized it is pronounced Fru-ti-are (roll the r’s) and not fru-till-ar (insert southern slang sound). We are so beyond blessed here with our first ministry month! We have our own house, hot water, a fire and healthy, homemade food! The views here are beautiful as well. Just 2.5 miles down the road is a lake that is backed by an active volcano. The town is laced with adorable German architecture and tiny houses, each heated by a central fireplace.
Our host family is even more amazing. They are so driven, active, loving and Godly. They feed us amazing, healthy meals and just pour blessings on us. Through them we are working at a local school and teaching English in the evening. Our schedule is extremely packed so it has been difficult finding a time to sit down, write and sit with Jesus, just him and I. But, I absolutely love seeing God in everything else.
I am working with 6thgraders and “teaching” Zumba during the schools two breaks. These kids are my absolute favorite! God has 100% blessed me with my class. I love having the most awkward grade in life.
My first day was Friday with the class and I was asked to grade their homework as well as help teach a lesson/lead a lesson. The amazing thing is, their homework and schoolwork is in English and Spanish! Teaching Zumba has been interesting also… I have not had time to plan any routines, nor do I really teach zumba…haha So, I end up running out of moves, but the kids love it.
Teaching English in the evening has been great also. I am aiding Rebecca, who is fluent in Spanish, with the adults who have zero understanding of English. They enjoy our silly antics when we try to help them say words how we say them. It is so exciting teaching those who desire to learn.
On another note, I feel like I am in Lord of the Rings because we have breakfast, second breakfast, lunch and elevensies! No dinner… But we eat so much you don’t even want dinner.
