1 Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
It’s hard as a Christian at times to look at the lives of unbelievers and see how “great” or “easy” their lives seem. I know I catch myself looking at others lives and think, “man, they just get to do whatever they want while I’m over here trying to stick to these ‘rules.’” The thing is, all they have is temporary, all they do and love is temporary and the “rules” I follow give me more freedom than they will ever know.
3 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.
This is my reward. When I TRUST God and abide by his holy word, my life is filled with a joy nothing on earth can fill.
7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.
God is in control and he sees our struggle. He never said following him would be easy but he does promise it will be worth it. Those who don’t follow him remain empty and their lives false canvases of joy.
Just some thoughts from me on a Psalm I recently read. Comparison is the thief of joy. Even tough it may seem that non-Christians have the easier road, remember that it leads to dust while ours to eternal life with Jesus. Would you trade that?
