I always joked about moving as Adult Tetris, maneuvering each piece of furniture, clothing, kitchen appliance or random knick-knack into the perfect place for maximum spacial usage. After years of practice I thought I was ready for the ultimate challenge.
Oh how wrong I was…
Never did I expect to lose sleep stressing about how to fit basic necessities for a year into a 65L pack. After packing, unpacking, repacking, stressing, wrestling, squishing, and pulling over and over again, I am proud to say I have all I need for the year (and a little more) ready to go!
PURSE:
The above image is what I will carry everywhere I go. I did add Gas-Ex and Lactaid to this pack as my stomach is never happy with what I eat. The bag that looks like drugs…is…well drugs lol TUMS to be exact. The black baggie is my theft proof and possibly me proof wallet. the grey zipper bag is instant coffee!!! I love coffee too much to not have it. The black box is my outlet converter (I’m still using my phone charger so it’s not shown here). Lastly I have hair ties for dayssssss! I am ready to braid everyones hair every day.
DAYPACK:
This is my “carry-on/daypack.” This pack will hold anything I don’t want tossed under the airplane or potentially lost/stolen. It also includes overnight items if I were to have a layover in an airport. Since our first country is Chile, southern Chile, It will be cold. I packed cold wear in this pack to layer over/under my travel outfit so I don’t freeze and don’t have to dig through my backpack.
65L PACK:
Ok…If you want to get a workout and panic and cry at the same time… try stuffing necessities into this… Other than what I will have on my body and the other packs, this is all I will have for the next 11 months.
The green stuff sack is all my clothing:
1 long dress, 1 knee length dress
6 shirts (two T-shirts)
2 shorts (to wear under dresses)
4 loose pants
1 pair of jeans
1 long skirt
1 tank top
rain coat
The red stuff sack is undies:
12ish undies
4 bras
2 sport bras
4ish pairs of socks
I chose a hanging toiletry bag and loveeee it! The red zipper bag is “emergency items” like bandaids, hand warmers and bug spray. The black bag contains extra items; water filter, sporks, tissues, etc.
I was so tired of re-packing and figuring out how to make it all fit I left my tent and sleeping bag inside my pack… It’s a workout…
This large pack weighs in at 40lbs which is under the maximum allowed of 50lbs. I am proud to say I conquered Adult Tetris Level Expert and hope this helps those who are still packing/future packers.
