This past February, our entire squad flew from New Zealand into Brisbane, Australia. We were blessed enough to have a mini-debrief there and just get together all in one place to rest and catch up. It was unexpected and the hospitality that was shown was unbelievable. A married couple named Fran and Jamie had decided to take in 40 of us into their small condo and their next door neighbor had even decided to just move out of her condo for the weekend so, we could move in and have a few days to rest.
Lana’s reaction to the mad chaos in Fran and Jamie’s condo w/ us there!
We got there and the boys stayed in the same condo with Fran and Jamie and all of the girls stayed in the neighbor’s house. It was definitely tight quarters but worth every second of it. It was a great time to hear how everyone’s first month was and have a few days to explore before going straight back into ministry. Fran and Jamie had us a meal waiting when we got there and just really opened up their lives and their home to us. I mean really, who does that?? Who takes in 40 some strangers from the United States that they know nothing about?? I would have to say that I do not think that answer would be many. They were a true blessing to our lives and opened my eyes to the true definition of hospitality.
Fran and Jamie
They were so eager to spend the entire weekend with us. Some people wanted to just lie down and relax and other people wanted to go out and explore. I was one of the one’s who wanted to explore obviously so, I was excited to spend the day with them and get to know them better. The places they took us were absolutely beautiful and we ended up hiking along a beach called Noosa and seeing a koala bear in the wild. It doesn’t get much better than that! It was a blessing getting to know them that day and spending quality time with two people who loved the Lord just like we did on the complete opposite side of the world and were dedicated to making their life and marriage revolve around Him and the work they could do for Him.

As the weekend came to a close, we found out that Fran and Jamie had been longing to have a child. They had been trying to have a baby for two years now and were starting to grow weary. We decided that we would pray over them as an entire squad truly believing that God would answer their prayers and bless them with a child. It was the least we could do for them after all they had done for us throughout the weekend. We prayed for them and then, they sent us off to the train to continue on to our next destination.
After the month passed and we were all back together here in the Philippines during debrief, someone received an email from them telling us that they were finally pregnant. They had been to the doctor the week before they sent us the email and they had conceived the baby about one week after we had prayed over them and left.
God truly does answer prayers and He is totally amazing. He is such a beautiful genius and it is a blessing to be able to witness the work that He is still doing today. If you do not believe that God answers prayers, this should be proof to you that He is working. I pray that you challenge yourself on your praying and that you truly believe the words that come out of your mouth when you are speaking to Him!
Congratulations Fran and Jamie. We love you and we are praying for you guys!!
