This past month, I was asked if I was into missions by another teammate during our time at El Rancho. He originally asked it without thinking in conversation and it turned into a daily joke of us asking each other that all of the time.

Then it hit me, one night in the kitchen, we were there washing dishes during the New Wine Conference and it was kinda late and everyone was tired but there was a band playing and I just could not think of a better set-up for a job. I mean most people do not go to work every day and get to listen to a band and dance around the kitchen while cleaning. I could have complained about it being late and being tired or about the fact that it smelled and I had already worked all day and had to get up early the next morning but instead I was having the time of my life serving others and working at the same time.  And in that moment, I was like wait a minute, we should really be asking ourselves that question every single day of our lives. Am I into missions today? Am I willing to serve others and love them to the core no matter what the cost? Is that for me today? It all boils down to being presentBeing present in every moment and being intentional about everything you do in your everyday lifeWe are really all missionaries as Christians and it should be a part of our everyday lives if we make it that way, but the question we have to ask ourselves on a daily basis is are we truly making it that way. Do I just wanna live this life for me today or am I into missions and willing to sacrifice what I want today to help others and serve them and God instead? That is our daily choice in life and that is how we bring God glory. I always told all of the girls in sorority, you get out of this exactly what you put into it and you have to be present to do that and it is the same way with God. We have to choose to be present and sacrifice our “me” time for “Him” time and stop making everything about us. If we would stop focusing so much on ourselves and start loving on everyone else, this world would be in a much better state.

After that night, I decided to really truly start asking myself that on a daily basis and tell all of my teammates who had been joking around about it to ask themselves also. All God asks us to do in this life is love and that is the true definition of missions. You could ask yourself if you were into missions today and if that answer was yes, you might be scrubbing toilets all day or counting bowls in a cupboard but you are serving the Lord in that because you made the choice to be intentional that day and help serve in whatever way possible to help someone else. I am forever grateful for this moment and I will never forget that night at El Rancho where the kitchen came to life as a full on dance party with a bunch of sweaty, smelly people who just wanted to serve the Lord and glorify Him.

So….are you present today in what you are doing and are you intentional or are you just going through the motions of your day to day life just trying to get by? I think you should try it both ways and see how it feels.

So….the real question is….are you into missions today???
