January was an amazing first month on the World Race!! We landed in Auckland, took a bus to Crystal Springs, MataMata for launch training, took a bus to Waikanae to stay at El Rancho for ministry, took a bus back to Auckland to stay in a church for the night and woke up to leave for Australia the next morning!! Kinda a wild life we live, huh?

New Zealand is such an awesome country. God has created such a beautiful masterpiece there in the land and the people. The green grass is just a little greener and the blue sky is just a little bluer. The people’s smiles are just a little brighter and the hospitality would just blow your mind!!

My team was sent to serve alongside two other teams on “M” squad this month at El Rancho Christian Camp in Waikanae, New Zealand. We helped out with a VBS kids camp the first week and prepared and helped run a conference called “New Wine” the rest of the time. They also created a team for marketing to help rebrand the camp for the upcoming year.

The first week, I worked in the dish room and helped clean toilets during camp and then, I was placed on the marketing team the rest of the time to help rebrand the place. Who knew I would ever be using my degree on this trip. God has such amazing plans for each and every one of us and it is awesome to watch Him work. I worked on a new logo for the company, a booklet brochure for a conference they will be having and a post card to send out for the conference as well. It was such an honor to be able to bless these amazing people with something that could equip them to grow in the future.

Working on the marketing team was an awesome opportunity to get to know the executive director, Rob and his staff. They have really shown us the true definition of God’s love. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty and when I look at them I see Jesus in their eyes and hearts. I am forever changed from experiencing them and cannot thank God enough for the blessings He has shown us through them.
My relationships with our teams and the girls I got to work with grew so much stronger and it was awesome to really get to see what this whole idea of community really looks like. I have fallen so inlove with all of them, even after one month that it is hard to think of my life without them anymore. They have shown me encouragement and support every single day since I stepped off the plane. We have opened our hearts to one another and experienced every moment together whether frustrated or laughing until we have cried. God hand selected each of us to work together and knew when we were born that we would be doing this wild journey together and blessing each other to no end. How awesome is He?

This month has been such a learning experience and a great way to start out the year. It definitely set the bar for the rest of the countries. I am forever changed by New Zealand. The beauty, the El Rancho staff, “M” squad, the experiences, etc. are imprinted in my heart.

Thank you God for New Zealand!!

P.S. New Zealand, I will see you again soon J
