We have spent that last month here in beautiful Antigua, Guatemala.  We have had the pleasure of working with Luis Castillo from New Generation Ministries (http://asociacionnuevageneracion.org).  Our ministry here is two part.

Some of our days consist of visiting locals schools and helping Luis teach lessons.  He teaches on Bible based topics that include but are not limited to: having a good attitude, morals, values, being healthy, etc.  This opportunity opens the door for him to invite them to a discipleship group that he hosts every Friday.  The work he does is so valuable.  What I have learned most about the work that he does is that it is difficult to see the fruits of his labor.  He puts countless hours every week into teaching these kids and it is difficult to know what they take in from it.  I trust that the Holy Spirit is doing the work in the students hearts through Luis’ teachings.

We are also working on building a house for a family that is involved with the mission organization.  The organization does not usually build houses for people but this is a special case because it is one of their own.  Rafa and is family of 8 were forced to leave their home after the house they were renting was sold.  They are in desperate need of a home.  We have been working tirelessly on helping get a home built for them.  We worked along side a group that came from Seattle to get the project under way.  The great thing about building a house is that you can see the fruits of the labor and we can see the progress we are making.

One thing that I am learning this month is that no matter what kind of ministry we are doing it is helping further the Kingdom of God.  Though we might not be able to see the full benefit of the work that we are doing, God will take it and make something great out of it.

We have really enjoyed Guatemala and can not wait to come back someday!!
