It’s been 1 month since we applied for the January trip and I have noticed that our perspective has already changed. Even as we waited to find out if we were even going, the phrase “it’s preparation” started to wiggle it’s way into our everyday vocabulary.
A dinner Sarah prepared one night didn’t come out as planned. We didn’t really have anything else to eat so I said, “It’s preparation!” We had leftovers…so we continued preparing the next night too. Chances are, on the Race, with all the new food we’ll be trying, there’s bound to be something we don’t like.
I was driving us home from an event one night, decided to take a short cut and wound up stuck in traffic. What should have taken 10 minutes to get home ended up taking 2 hours. Sarah turned to me halfway through and said, “It’s preparation.”
One night we were sitting on the couch enjoying a movie. The power went out and we both turned to each other and said in unison, “It’s preparation.”
These everyday issues, the minor setbacks that intend to frustrate and annoy us, we now see as opportunities to prepare mentally and emotionally for the journey ahead. It is truly amazing how stress free life becomes when the bad stuff turns into good…and all it takes is a change in perspective.
