Continuing on with the adventure of month two, God allowed the opportunity for myself and two other teammates to visit a maximum security prison consumed with inmates doing 40 to life for a variety of different crimes. It's very funny how the initial thought process was to feel sorry for the inmates because seeing them confined behind bars put the thought that they were in bondage and had no freedom. Looking at situations from the outside in has always made me make my own assumptions, but when i stood before 60 men lifting their voices up to worship christ, I finally realized that these particular inmates were free.

They sang so beautifully and so joyfully that it impacted me greatly beyond measure. Oh how sweet the aroma of unashamed men praising Christ in freedom. It is amazing how from a natural perspective things can come off horrendous but when you dig into the heart of another and you see Christ in them there is no greater freedom. Yes their actions deserved to be punished, yes there punishment was just, but yes God is gracious to forgive, set free, and save. And if any man be in Christ he is a new creature therefore living a different life. A life that delights in Christ, a life that makes much of Christ, a life that walks in the narrow path, a life completely and fully surrendered to Christ. In christ the man makes a practice of righteousness and not a practice of sin. It is the carnal church member who says "if god forgives I will continue to practice sin"but it is the true regenerate Christian who says "if god loves me this much to forgive me of all of my crimes in the past present and future, I will devout my life to him" therfore bringing about a life consumed with the practice of a righteousness.

In the end I had the opportunity to speak a few words of encouragement to the men reminding them that the joy of the Lord is there strength and to continue to make every aim, ever ambition, and every goal to glorify Christ.
