The reality is finally here! Training camp is over and launch is complete, we are officially headed to South Africa :). My team J159 which is Joshua 1:5-9 will be doing ministry in Johannesburg, South Africa hitting the streets hard to spread this glorious gospel.
Story behind this city in Africa:
A few months ago I saw a movie based on true events that took place in Johannesburg. As I watched the movie I said to myself that this city is ripe for spreading the gospel, but I would never be bold enough to do it. With my eyes tuned into the television, the immorality, drug infestation, homlessness, parentless children, prostitution, and gangs infested the streets. The thoughts of my mind accumulated and I begin to realize that these are the places God is calling us to be a light. Are not these the tasteless places that need salt? Are not these the desolate places that need to experience the full Living Water & Bread of life that they may never hunger and thirst again? The whole purpose is to save the lost and preach Christ crucified until he calls me home. One thing for sure I cannot do when God calls me home to eternal glory is tell people about the hope of Jesus Christ. My race would have been ran, my fight would have been fought, and I will sing worthy is the lamb and in hell they will sing the harvest has passed, the summer has ended and we are not saved!
I can't go into all the details about how we ended up having to do ministry in Johannesburg but we are and I refuse to leave saying "what if". Although I have expressed a sense of fear, I know that where the presence of God is fear will not be present, I know that his perfect beautiful, and precious love cast out all fear. I know that I am free from being bound by fear because the Almighty Savior has overcome the world and there is nothing that cannot be conquered under the refuge of his wing. Please pray that God would give me a heart of faith like Abraham, a heart of worship like Job, a heart of brokeness/contrition/adoration like David, and a heart of radical boldness like Paul. I am walking into a dark place full of ravenous wolves as a little weak sheep. But who can stand against the creator for when I am weak he is strong and the weight of his glory will fall.
Joshua 1:5-9 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
