Seconds, minutes, hours, days, months are quickly passing by. The day is vastly approaching! I have such an inexpressible joy, but I must say there are some things that have me saying “REALLY”. I don’t know whether it is me being nervous of the unexpected or there are just some things I just haven’t quite grasped. Honestly, I don’t think this journey that has completely “sunk in” and I don’t think it will until the day I land in another country, pitch my tent, and Lord willingly wake up the next morning surrounded by roosters cock-a-doodle-dooing, mosquitos, and foreign people ( I guess I’ll be the foreigner at that point)

REALLY:

  1. Really about to forsake all and say goodbye to my family and friends that I have grown so attached to
  2. Really about to deal with the thoughts of if I will ever see them again (anything can happen)
  3. Really about to be phoneless for 11 months (easy & convenient communication gone)
  4. Really about to spend 11 months in 13 countries ( I thought Houston to Fargo was tough,. Phh not even comparable to this)

  6. Really about to be exposed to situations that I’ve never encountered
  7. Really about to be exposed to cultures that I’ve never experienced
  8. Really about to sleep in tents
  9. Really about to rarely bathe, and do it in a creek/river
  10. Really only required to bathe once every 7-10 days
  11. Really about to sleep on floors
  12. Really about to eat things that I have never heard of or eaten ( not an adventurous eater)
  13. Really about to use unhygienic  restrooms (which I am very particular about)
  14. Really about to encounter dangerous insects & snakes (Please don’t let a spider or snake crawl on me, it will be a bloody battle. I’m just saying)
  15. Really about to cram in a car to get from point A to B
  16. Really about to wear a week’s worth of clothes for 11 months
  17. Really about ride on buses with no restrooms ( Really dude! Does the bus stop if you need to go? I doubt it L Bring ya “Pepto-Bismol”)

  22. Really about to live out of a backpack for 11 months (talk about living with less)
  23. Really about to embrace starving children and can only do so much (Warning: I am extremely compassionate, I will be broken and cry. If you don’t like crying people stay away)
  24. Really about to sit in the midst of poverty at its worst and can’t provide all of their physical need
  25. Really about to hold the hand of a widow who has lost everything and never had much of anything
  26. Really about to wash my clothes OLD SCHOOL styel (doubt most places have machines)
  27. Really about to hang dry my clothes OLD SCHOOL style  (It would be funny if a place had no washer but did have a dryer, Idk which is better. Anyway, hang drying clothes can never guarantee dry clothes. You are at the mercy of God’s nature)
  28. Really about to embrace a child who is motherless/fatherless
  29. Really about to hold the hand of a crippled man and pray that God will heal him
  30. Really about to be challenged beyond imagination
  31. Really about to serve and spread the gospel in a few hostile countries
  32. Really about to put my life at stake for the sake of the gospel in hope souls would be saved
  33. REALLY REALLY REALLY about to figure out what this life is truly about

Of course to the average person most of these “REALLY’S” are reasons not to go on the world race. I can say two of them I am not looking forward to – particularly a blood bath with snakes and spiders & and using dirty squatty potties. But once again what an awesome opportunity for God to have all of me, for me to totally depend on his intervention and his will being done. This journey is going to be life changing, while changing lives and will produce conformity to Christ.  Please continue to keep us all In your prayers
