“Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I shall tell you”. Gen 22:2
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life”. John 3:16
“Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son you only son from me”. Gen 22:12
Now we, oh imperfect yet beautiful bride through Christ can cry out “My God My God I know that you love me because you did not withhold your only son from me.
God lifted up his eyes and behold before him was his perfect son. He knew no sin, every day of his life he glorified God, every moment he ate and drank he did it for God. There was no reason to punish him, to crush him, to curse him, yet he stands before his father spotless, without any fault and says father place every debt of sin on me and do not leave any debt out. The father grabs a cup then he fills the cup to the brim and says you will not complete this atonement until every last drop has been drank.
Then he says Son if I spare them I will not spare you
The son says content father, charge it all on me I am able to discharge it. Christ looks at this monster of iniquity, he looks at Satan & every demon in hell & he says content father I am able to put it away, I will take them all on and not only will I defeat them I will put them to shame.
The Christ we serve is a Mighty Lion, he roars and men flee, he speaks and demons tremble, he conquers all the nations. To whom will you liken him? Behold the nations are like a drop from a bucket and are accounted as dust on the scales. Whom did he consult and who made him understand? He reigns with a Holy fire. Men stick their chest out and “say I’m not afraid of God” and on the Day of Judgment they will melt before him like a plastic figurine thrown in a fiery furnace.
He is the Lord of Lords, He is the King of Kings, He has been given the name above every name so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
Do not apologize for this God. And I will not ask you to make him Lord of your life. He is Lord of your life whether you curse him, love him, hate him or cherish him. Some will bow out of the grace and mercy that has been given to them and some will bow because their knee caps will be broken by the God who rules the nations with a rod of Iron.
