We walked around a village. Yoseph, our leader, knew exactly where he was going. We past too many goats to count, several puppies, houses next to houses, and even several fields with workers our and about. This village was a maze.
And then we arrived. We didn’t know where we were other than another house. We were welcomed by a smiling woman and a couple others. After greeting everyone, we piled onto a couple beds made of wood since they wouldn’t allow us to sit on the floor.
And then we talked.
The woman’s name is Lakshmi, which is the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity. She has several daughters, one of which is Christian. Lakshmi however is Hindu.
We shared the Gospel with her and prayed for her. We shared different aspects of the Lord with her.
Her continual response was that she doesn’t have time to go to church. She needs to be out in the fields working.
And then we changed her name.
Megan prophesied that when she come to know the Lord she will be know as Joy. She will be joy and bring joy to those who don’t know the Lord.
After more prayer and chugging a 2-liter of Sprite (the Nepalese people are very hospitable), we went to her family’s corn field. There we helped plant corn for a brief amount of time. And then we left.
I didn’t think we would see her again, so as we walked home I prayed.
But, on our last night in the village, we brought a small group to her house. We shared several testimonies about prayer, the Lord’s provision, and strength.
The whole time Joy had the biggest smile.
As the evening dwindled down, we hared tea and cookies that Joy provided for us. And then we got the opportunity to pray for her and her family again.
She never outright said that she accepted the Lord, but we have high hopes for Joy.
The Lord is after this child to bring her back to His Kingdom. Before long, Joy will be home.
