This weekend I visited my college roommates, Aubrey and Tiffany, who live together about 4 hours away from me. The main reason for the visit was Tiffany’s bridal shower on Saturday. It was a beautiful day with an even more beautiful party! A couple of weeks before the shower I was talking to Tiffany and she mentioned I might be able to speak at her mom’s church about the World Race. That church, Croys Creek Church, supported me in the past when I did mission work in Germany. My only connection to the church was Tiffany and her mom.
Well, Sunday came and I was nervous because it was my first time speaking in front of more than 10 people at a time about the Race! Once I was done speaking, the pastor asked all who felt lead to come forward and pray over me. I was surprised when the majority of the church came forward since I only knew Tiffany, her mom, her grandparents, and Aubrey. I was so blessed by everyone coming forward!
After the service a couple people came up to me asking for a business card or to give a donation. Let me tell you something, the people of Croys Creek Church are so generous and humble! Thinking I was about to leave, I realized I was walking away with $300. I began to thank God for these people who don’t even know me. Their donations made me once step closer to being able to launch in July.
That’s not even the best part!!
The mission committee had a quick meeting and decided to help me financially. I wasn’t expecting them to give at all, let alone have me walk away with a check! They called me over and the conversation went like this:
“So, we’re going to give you the remainder of your balance, $12,000.”
(Me) “Wait, what?”
“$12,000 the remainder of your balance to go on the World Race.”
(Me) -starting to cry- “What? Thank you!”
After realizing I’m not dreaming and it’s not a prank, I was handed a check for $12,000 to be added to my World Race account!!!
Those words and the realization of this still brings me to tears.
And, once the check is received and processed, I will be FULLY FUNDED!!! (Some of the best words a Racer can say!)
This whole process of fundraising raised my blood pressure and stress level. I remember telling people that I have to raise $15,500 with most people thinking I was crazy to believe I could do that. I always said, “Sure, the amount is big, but my God is bigger and He will provide!” Well, God sure did provide and then some! At this moment, I’m still in shock and amazement!
My friends were just as excited for me as I was for me! As we drove away, one of them mentioned rolling the windows down and yelling. Well, that definitely happened!! Yelling out of pure joy, love, and amazement to our God for His provision!
To the people of Croys Creek, thank you isn’t enough to say for what a blessing you all are! But, thank you for listening to God as He said give. Your support means the world to me (literally)!
GOD IS GOOD!
