My team, and team Summit arrived in Sofia, Bulgaria on Monday night. We are living 3 miles away from each other. This month we do not have hosts or ministry partners. This is my first experience like this. Our role is to ATL Ask The Lord to lead us daily in where we should be. Create our own ministry. Our first day was an “off day” to get settled in and rest. I found an amazing vegetarian/vegan restaurant one block away from home! I’ve been there the last three days–I’m so impressed. Already making relationships there. But yeah our first day (Tuesday) we celebrated Miranda’s birthday by going out to eat  and then to a jazz bar. Then yesterday we convened with the other team and discussed some logistics and rules of the month for ATL. Then we worshipped and prayed. I hope to really get involved in cool ways this month. I’m planning to be at a 2 hour walking tour on the history of this city,Sofia, tomorrow, a 2 hour tour on Communism History here Saturday, and an awesome church service on Sunday. I think Sofia is my favorite city on the World Race so far, the actual city is a place I’d really like to live I think. But yeah today I spent a lot of time talking with different locals –people I definitely plan to continue growing in relationship with this month–the husband and wife owners of a local vegetarian restaurant called Edgy Veggy, a sweet girl who works at Kring–another vegetarian restaurant <<Both whom I shared contact info with for the sake of volunteer opportunities, and a woman who sat down with me for lunch who works at the Sofia History Museum. So far, I really feel God is leading me to understand the political culture and history here. A topic I’ve brought up with three people so far, two I just mentioned and a couple policeman I met today, is “Why are there so many swastikas in Sofia, and why are people generally unconcerned about it?” I did a google search on this, and received valuable information that I’m finding true as I bring up this topic. It’s something I hope to understand more in the next few days. So far, I love it here, and I can’t wait to see where God leads.
