I have no idea how to start this off in a way that isn’t awkward so I’m just going to dive straight in!

I guess starting with my name would be a good place…

If you haven’t used your super sleuthing skills to figure this out I’m Rhema (ray.ma) Kennedy!

The story behind my name!

When my mum was pregnant with my older brother, she had a dream where an angel told her to name her baby daughter “Rhema”, and lo’ and behold she had a boy! (I didn’t come along until 4 years later)

“Rhema” is Greek and means “empowered Word of God” (Sheesh! Not like that’s a lot to live up to or anything!) In all honesty though, I absolutely love my name! It reminds me that I’m unique, that God has being planning my life before I was even in existence, and that God is actively pursuing us and involved in our lives!

Miscellaneous Me

– I hail from the budding metropolis of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada! (eh!)

As much of a blustery cold winter city that it is, I do rather love it! It has a gorgeous river valley that’s actually the longest stretch of connected urban parkland in North America  *fun fact*

– I’m a total tea aficionado!

(I have yet to find someone with tea collection that rivals mine!)

– Don’t get me wrong, I really like coffee too but it doesn’t rival my love of tea!

– I absolutely ADORE dance!!!!!

I started dancing when I was three and haven’t stopped ever since! I’ve done everything from modern and African to Ukrainian and ballet. I have the most experience with Ukrainian dance (another fun fact!Edmonton has the most Ukrainian dancers per Ukrainian in the  world!

Right now I am completely head over heels in love with swing dance! I’m the Vice-President of my campus’ swing dance club and spend so much time doing it that’s it led my family to tell me repeatedly that I need a dance intervention!

– I’m a sustainability nut!

Anything that has to do with being environmentally friendly, I’m there!

– I’ve been a vegetarian for over 5 years!

What’s going to happen with that during the World Race? We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it…

– I guess a natural progression from the last two points: I’m an animal lover!

I’ve been obsessed with rabbits from like birth….

After going to the UK when I was 14, I started to really like sheep too. SO much so that for some reason I   said that I would go back and hang out on a sheep farm in Wales (which I was able to do this past               summer!)

-Also stemming from sustainability nut: I’m an avid cyclist!

It all started with me being cheap and not wanting to buy a bus pass and refusing to get a car for a summer job. It was a cycling trip of 1h 20 mins one way and I did it everyday for 4 months…. sometimes I question my sanity…

– I’m super enthusiastic and easily excited which leads to me overusing exclamation marks in my writing…

– I’m also a compulsive “sorry”er

I say “sorry” for like everything… maybe it’s just part of being Canadian?

-I have the greatest family EVER!! They mean the world to me! (I’m going to miss them ridiculously during the WR). I’m the baby of the family, and have an older brother and sister who are married to two of the coolest people I know! I’m blessed to have my best friends be family! My parents are my biggest fans and support me even when I do crazy things like living out of a backpack for a year!

D’aawww!!! Look at this lovable bunch! (That apparently hate have their picture taken together! This was the most recent one I could find! You can tell how old it is my how short my hair is!)

– I’m an britophile (anglophile?) !  I love everything to do with British culture!

My dream is to one day live in England for an extended amount of time!

– I’m going to be graduating with my Elementary Education degree this coming spring! I minored in French but I’m pretty sure we’re not going to any countries that speak French….

Basically, among other things, I got to go to university and finger paint and play recorder.

Right now, I don’t really want to teach in a classroom setting so I have no idea what to do when I get back from the WR…. I know God has something amazing in store though!!

– I have 2 amazing jobs!

1) I work at a group home with adults with developmental disabilities – I’ve the three individuals I work with since I was 8 so it’s basically like I get paid to go hang out with family

2) I work at Fort Edmonton Park! (Canada’s largest living history museum) – there are original and replicas of historical buildings and actors in the summer that tell the story of Edmonton’s history from 1885-1920. I work in the education department so I lead groups (mostly school groups) on programs through the sire. I get the added benefits of getting to dress up in historical costumes, use wood burning stoves, etc…

ya…. both my jobs involve me making cookies….

A Couple Quirks

-For some reason shopping malls really stress me out and make me uncomfortable….kind of ironic coming from the city with North America’s largest mall…

– I have this habit of singing worship songs in the shower…
