So many things happen that are out of my control. And I’m slowly learning I can’t do anything without help from The Father.
There are times in my mission, where I’m exhausted. I’m sad. Or I’m grumpy. Times I don’t have any words. Or I don’t know what is even going on. Times I see things I never knew even existed.
But the awesome thing, I don’t have to worry about saying the right words, I don’t have to prepare a long speech, or know what’s going on.
I can meet a person, and Gods going to give me the right words. God knows exactly what’s going on and he’s speaking through me. It’s not me who is doing something.
A bible story that I recently found fascinating. That most children already know. Daniel and the lions den.
Have you ever seen a lion up close? Can you imagine how big they are? And their roar is so loud, initial instinct is to cover your ears. Most people have seen Narnia, and how powerful Aslan feels.
So imagine you’re Daniel. A friend of the King. And you are just going about every day. Praying like you usually do. And a couple people get jealous of you. They don’t like your friendship with the king. So they trick the king into making up a new law. That anyone who doesn’t pray to the king, should be sent to the lions den.
That’d make you sad. But you continue to pray, because you know God wants to hear from you. And we are not to bow down to any other god or idol.
And all of a sudden guards are pounding on your door. Boom. Boom. Boom. You know what’s coming.
They grab you, and shove you across the room. And suddenly you find yourself next to a lion.
You start praying fervently. Never ceasing. The last words you hear from the King is, Daniel, I pray that your God may save you from the mouths of lions.
The whole time, your eyes are closed but you can feel the powerful lions circling you.
You wait a second.
Nothing happens.
Your open your eyes. The lions are lying down, some already falling asleep.
There’s nothing to do but rejoice because the power of God has shut the mouths of the lions.
It’s not just a story.
God can do anything. He has no limits.
He gives me the words to say.
There was one morning at a church. We were waiting for our guides to come, so that we could go door to door. I was reading my bible, in one corner. And Mariah, my teammate was reading hers in another. But we didn’t get an opportunity to talk. And before we knew it most of the morning was over. But we found ourselves led to a family, church members, who needed encouragement.
We were caught off guard and had nothing prepared. So I open my bible hoping I could find something. And I go back to Matthew, what I had been reading that morning. My teammate Cassie nudged me, because Mariah was talking about Matthew. And I was like, hey, that’s what where I’m at. So I tune into what Mariah is saying.
She said that morning she had been reading a verse. And found encouragement. And wanted the family to know.
That’s when I realized, it was the exact verse I had been looking up.
God is amazing.
He didn’t just put it on my heart to read that verse.
He also put it on Mariah’s heart.
So that we could work together to give an encouragement that the family needed to hear.
That’s how I know. It’s out of my control. I just need to trust God will give me the words. He will give me the strength.
