Hi, my name is Reya Martinez and I am simply learning to be the light. I am an avid chaser of the sun whether it be sunrises or sunsets. I love Pope Francis with all my heart and the value of service and loving every child of God. If I could grow up to be anything like Blessed Mother Teresa, my heart would be content. I am in love with the sky and all the things that fill it. I love adventuring, making videos with my GoPro, and going on road trips with friends. My heart forever belongs in Austin, Texas. I’m overflowing with joy that the Lord has chosen me to be a beacon of light to all those who need me to share the good news across the world.
I come from a family of five, my Dad Gerard, my Mom Wendy, and my two sisters Kyra and Abby. We are very close and enjoy being together whether it be going camping together or simply being in each others company. I have lived in Austin basically my whole life and fall more in love with the city every day. Nothing compares to the people-friendly music-filled beautiful city of Austin, Texas.
My relationship with God is continually growing as he molds me into the person he intended for me to be. I am constantly overwhelmed with joy at the thought of how many blessings God has graced me with; my family, my friends, and beautiful life in a beautiful place. Of the many blessings he has given me, my home parish is one of my most cherished. There is no place I love more than my church, St.Thomas More Catholic church and all the people in it. I consider it my home, sometimes I’m even there more than the home I live in if that says anything. My catholic faith is one of the most important things to me.
I try to live for the day at hand and not get too caught up in the future or the past. I think that we are all on this journey of life and part of our job is to find beauty in the little things. I think that every day we have here on earth has something to add to our crazy, beautiful lives and that God has something new to teach us everyday. So I guess, I’m trying my best to live for today and to find those hidden blessing God places in each day for me to find. I am so excited for next year and for all the things God is waiting to show me through the people I meet and the places I go. Jesus is calling me to be BOLD and to live a life of radical love and I’m overjoyed at the fact that he has called me on this next adventure for the next year of my life!
