Cambodia!  After 82 hours of traveling, 5 different countries, 14 different time zones, and a 10 hour bus ride, not to mention temperature changes that would throw any body out of sorts, I am finally in Cambodia!  Now to be honest, I was very disappointed when I found out that instead of Jamaica we were coming to Cambodia for the month of March.  I was disappointed that I would be spending my 27th birthday in Cambodia.  Today, March 10, 2009  I must say, I absolutely LOVE Cambodia!  Does it get better than Asia?  I’m not sure!  The people are beautiful and amazing!  The culture is so full of respect and love for one another, and the food…the food….did I mention the food?  It is “hmmm it’s so good!” We are currently in Phnom Penh.  I am currently working on another blog about the history of Cambodia and the absolutely amazing, yet heart wrenching stories of the Emergence of the Khmer Rouge.  Unfortuantely, my computer is not working, so I am still relying on internet cafes.  I’m learning what it means to die to myself.  Anyway, what is Cambodia like?  Well there are spirit houses everywhere, literally.  We passed a garage where a man was working on a car and inside his garage, there was a spirit house.  The religion here is a mix of buddist, hindu, and some chinese religion.  They are open to Christianity but we have to follow certain laws about what can be said and done and what can not be said or done.  I’m learning how to do this.  We went to the temple yesterday, I did not go in.  I enjoyed the time outside with the monkeys  🙂  I made it up the stairs but the oppression, the lostness, the spiritual warfare was so powerful, I could not do it.  Though I wanted to know what was inside, I am grateful the Lord kept me outside where I was able to enjoy the other parts of the culture.  We also went to the Russian market.  That was lots of fun. I look forward to what else Cambodia has to offer.
