Swaziland has been an incredible country and a wonderful month. I have grown in so many ways and God has poured more of Himself and more passions and desires in my heart than before. He is growing my spiritual gifts, increasing what He has already given me, and beginning new and amazing things in me. We have been working the Remar Centre which is a Christian based rehabilitation center. However, it is so much more than just that. It has become a rehabilitation center, an orphanage, and a safe house. People who do not have a place to sleep or need a place to stay often show up on the door steps of the Remar Centre. Police officials have even been known to drop children off at the Centre when they need placement. The age range of those who live at Remar are newborn to late 50’s. There are newborns there with their mothers and there are small children who are orphaned. The older children take on the “motherly” roles as they help with the cooking, cleaning, bathing of children, and anything else that needs to get done. The teachers at the Centre also do not get a paid salary. It is often necessary for them to find “sponsors” or someone who is willing to support them financially so they are able to do the work God has called them to do, work with at risk and vulnerable children. It is very similar to what full time missionaries are required to do. However, it is much more difficult to obtain a sponsor in Swaziland than it is the states. The teachers stay as long as they feel God is calling them and it is their faith that keeps them there. Vonda and Jose run the Remar Centre and have such beautiful hearts. They desire it to be all that it is and more. I pray for God to show them His vision so they may began to develop a structure and system that will provide all they desire in an orderly manner. I pray God will bless them with an abundance of resources and help, the labor of men and women who wish to do God’s work. There are more than 120 children and only Vonda and Jose.
