The past couple of days here in Swaziland have been quite interesting. We arrived at the team house on Monday, so its been a week, and we’ve been helping Gary and Lisa Black (Gary Blog : Lisa Blog) move out of their house. They are our leaders here in Swaziland, and their visas are up at the end of the month. The government has yet to agree to renew them, so their futures here are uncertain and they will be returning to the states in April.

While our team was in South Africa the other teams were spread throughout Mozambique & Swaziland. Team ignite was working with a lot of families affected by AIDS and had some tragic tales to tell. Please read about Moses and the impression he left on team ignite.

And our world race team has just grown – Tracey Caufield has joined our squad!

We are now all back together and headed into a week of teaching by Gary Black and Andrew Shearman. Please be praying for us – we are living together with the AIM FYM (First Year Missionaries)
teams and it is very tight – more than forty people living under one roof and sharing three bathrooms!!! Needless to say, its community living at its finest!

Also, just yesterday riots began again here in Swaziland, and the tension here seems to be building. Our teams were caught in the middle of the fighting yesterday and the locals hid some of our girls in their stores until it was safe. Bricks were being thrown through windows, shops were being destroyed, vehicles were being smashed and gunshots were being fired.

“Manzini City centre was a scene of chaotic mayhem yesterday
when public transport operators    staged a strike to protest what they called
unreasonably huge traffic fines.
The buses and kombis would not transport commuters into the
city – and police fired rubber bullets and threw teargas canisters to bring them
to order as nearby shops hurriedly closed for fear of looting.

Even street vendors were not spared as third party elements hijacked the
situation to loot at will. As a result of the violence, the RFM hospital was a
hive of activity from as early as 9 a.m.” Swazi Observer

God’s angels have seriously surrounded us on this issue as story after story of protection has been shared. Please pray that the government and its people will resolve their issues without further violence or murder.
