Although you may not be able to tell by the weather or our surroundings, Christmas did in fact happen in Nicaragua today. It was a fantastic weekend with teams Freedom, Transformation Station and Beautiful Feet!

Yesterday we spent our afternoon at the beach. Definitely a Christmas Eve first for me!

We had a t-shirt contest in which we got creative with our 30 cent Santa shirts. This girl won second place! I think Project Runway might be my next adventure. 🙂

Last night we had a candlelight dinner where my squadmate Nate made a toast,
"To the places I never thought I'd go and the people I never knew I'd meet."

Cheers to that!

We also read the Christmas story by candlight, followed by a singing of Silent Night and sharing our blessings

Nate also read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, a Christmas Eve tradition in his family.

This morning my team opened our stockings:

Followed by Secret Santa gifts. You'd be amazed at what you can get for $10 in Nicaragua!

And Team Freedom took some awkward family photos to make the day complete:

Merry Christmas to you and yours!
