Through this post, I hope to do two things: share with you my exciting next steps at Adventures, and share with you an opportunity for you to partner with Adventures in those next steps. God continues to open doors for me at Adventures, and I want to open doors for you to get involved as well. Great new things are coming, and you can be a part of them. Before I take these next steps, I need to raise $3,500, which is 25% of the yearly funds that I need to raise for Adventures. I hope that you are as excited about these next steps as I am, and that you prayerfully consider investing in this work.
And now…what are the exciting next steps?!
First, I will be helping develop long-term bases for Adventures. Adventures is excellent at short-term missions and has developed a network through which we can deploy missionaries to almost any part of the world. Now we want to develop our long-term presence in those places. These bases will help us develop and maintain long-term relationships in local communities. Long-term relationships are the backbone to ministry; through these relationships, we develop trust, love, and community with the locals. Through the power of presence, we are able to reach those that we could not have reached before.
These bases are set to become a huge part of the ministry at Adventures in Missions. They will open up a completely different side of missions! We will develop self-sustaining ministries, learn how to do “business as missions,” provide real-world training opportunities for both expat missionaries and local missionaries, provide lodging for Adventures teams, and host teams from other missions organizations.
Our goal is to build 20 bases in 5 years! It is a huge goal and a huge step forward for Adventures in Missions.
Adventures is taking steps to develop its crisis response program as well, and I am blessed to be a key part of that development. While in Greece, I saw the incredible impact that believers have in crisis situations. We not only bring goods and materials, but we also bring the peace, love, and joy of the Lord. As believers, our impact in crisis is not limited to the physical or the now; with Jesus, we impact the supernatural and the eternal.
Adventures is perfectly situated to work in crisis response. Due to our work in short-term missions and the World Race, we are experienced in mobilizing people around the nation and the world. Adventures also places a priority on developing humble, servant-minded, capable leaders, the exact type of people who are most needed in crisis response situations. Finally, Adventures has a global network of ministry partners which we can utilize to get a trusted pair of eyes on a crisis situation anywhere in the world.
It’s exciting to think of all of the ways God will use Adventures through the crisis response programs. We will be giving World Race alumni, parents of World Racers, other adults, local churches, and other ministries an avenue to quickly and effectively serve in times of crisis.
I’m excited for both of these new opportunities at Adventures. Both opportunities will stretch me, teach me, and push me towards the Lord. I’m excited to see Him, know Him, and work with Him through developing long-term bases and crisis response. They are both big challenges full of unknowns, but also full of opportunity. God is good, and He is leading Adventures and me into great new things.
If you want to invest in this work through prayer or financial giving, please let me know. I’m excited for these opportunities, but I know that I cannot do this alone. I need the help of my community, prayer team, family and friends to keep centered on the Lord and seek His face in this work. God did not design us to do His work alone! And I’m eager to do this with you.
