I know the Bible says to not be jealous, and Jesus taught us to not covet or be jealous…but there’s one area in my life that I struggle with jealousy…

I just want to sleep like a baby!

Seriously, baby sleep is the best sleep ever. Babies can sleep in any position, in any location, at any time of the day. Now, I know that all you parents are thinking to yourself “Yeah, babies sleep at any time of the day…except during the night!”, but you have to admit, when a baby sleeps, it is the purest sleep on the planet.

The Lord is teaching me to be like a baby, and to rest like a baby. When a parent is holding a baby, the baby feels so completely safe and totally secure that they pass out and sleep like a rock. The past few days, the Lord has been showing me the value and wisdom in resting in Him like a baby rests in the arms of a parent.

When we rest in the Lord, we show the world, and Him, that we trust so deeply in Him that we can bring down our guard, forget about our schedules and to do lists, and give Him control over our lives. When we rest in the Lord as a baby rests in a parent’s arms, we show dependence, reliance and intimacy. Resting in the Lord is humbling, completely satisfying and absolutely necessary for every follower of Christ. The Lord promises to reward rest, to give us a yoke that is easy and a burden that is light. But before the Lord can reward us, and meet us where we are at, we must first put our trust, dependency and security onto His shoulders. We must slow down and let Him work; we must stop moving so that He can move in us.

Be jealous of babies. Rest so fully in the Lord that you are like a baby to a parent.

Start acting like a baby.
