The answer is simple. You. First name, last name. You. He wants to be with you. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less. “Now Reed, what about all this sinnin’ goin’ on.. He wants us not to sin”. Correct. I’m not denying that. You are right my friend. But hear me out. I’m coming from the party lifestyle. I was the wild child. So I’ve been on both sides of the spectrum. And I never understood the “good Christians” and their lifestyle. I mean I hated Christian music, thought Christian movies were cheesy, Church was boring. God was with me but I definitely was not with him.
So fast forward to when I found a group of guys I loved spending time with. Guys who introduced me to the love and grace of Jesus. We had all these conversations about what God wants. My thoughts were, ok no more partying, no sex, no cussing, etc. I do that, I’ll be good, right? Ehh, not quite. I had to realize doing right and wrong is only part of the journey. The relationship with Jesus is the most important part of your faith walk. Everything else will fall in line. When Jesus is with you and his best interest are at the forefront of your life, your behaviors change.
I get in the car nowadays and you better believe we are about to jam out to praise music, not because it’s my Christian duty but because The Holy Spirit is within me and I yearn to worship him daily. I don’t do this or I don’t do that not because I know it’s wrong but because Jesus has changed my heart. He has changed my life. Our pastor and my good friend Rob Sevilla will tell you, “you don’t work for your salvation, you work from it.”
I’m not sure what you thought God wanted from you. But hear me now, God is chasing you. God wants to be with you. God loves you. Wherever you are in your life, whatever addiction you have, whatever sin has a stranglehold on you, he will meet you where you are and walk through life with you. I pray that you know that God wants you, and he can turn this around, no problem. That whether you are in heaven or on earth you are with him, that is far better than any other place.
