hi,
it’s been a while. i’ve now lived in another country for three weeks, which is absolutely insane to me. getting to experience different culture, meet beautiful people who speak a beautiful language, and see the Lord move has been an amazing experience.
if you were to join my team for a day of ministry you would find that these three things are very common…
- google translate
- pepsi
- the Kingdom of God
for two weeks now our totally rad ministry host Aderkee has had other responsibilities during the week, this has resulted in six random white guys walking around small villages in Guatemala. while at first being alone without a translator seem scary it has resulted in significant growth for my team. two of our smart bois, josten and jason, had downloaded spanish on the google translate app the week before, which allowed us have an avenue to attempt to communicate. i have seen each of my teammates step out in boldness, to speak a language which they are not comfortable, all in obedience to the great commission and in an attempt to love people. this has been a beautiful thing.
ahhh pepsi… my team has a huge heart for the people in our ministry villages, but we may have an even bigger stomach. often you will find us taking short breaks outside of a tienda enjoying some chips and an ice cold pepsi. it is really cool to be apart of a team that doesn’t see these pitstops as just breaks from ministry though! we often have opportunities to pray for the people who run these shops and to build sweet relationships with them.
finally, the Kingdom. in the Gospels Jesus often begins parables with “the Kingdom of God is like…” honestly most of my life i have not seen the Kingdom, even while being a citizen of it. but the Lord works. day after day my team prays that we may spread the Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. through these prayers i have seen God giving us his eyes for what the Kingdom looks like. as a team our goal is to bring Kingdom. it is a privilege to have the opportunity to bring the kingdom and that is something we are learning. o how sweet the heart of the Father is, and o how beautiful it is to share it.
stay stoked,
reed
