hello,

this is a song i wrote called “blessings” while in Dallas, Texas. pretty much it is a testimony of the truth of James 1:17 which says “every good and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”

while my squad was serving with Samaritans Purse in Louisiana there was a hurricane that was going to hit the area we were staying in. this meant we would have to leave days earlier than we had originally thought which was disappointing for a group of young radical believers who just wanted to share the love of Jesus with everyone they came in contact with.

however, despite leaving earlier than intended, we were not met with the reality of going home. rather, we were met with a blessing from God. good friends of the president of AIM (Bob Mudd and i are friends now) opened up their home in Dallas for us to wait out the storm, so that we could return to Louisiana for another week of ministry.

so this song was written while i was sitting on a rock in front of their home, completely dumbfounded because of the Lord’s goodness.

blessings fall down from heaven above
sing hallelujah love has won
sing hallelujah his kingdom come
he brings up storms despite our remorse
sing all our praise he’s keeping us safe
sing all our praise he’s making his way

we know winds will blow and the rain may stay
but if it’s the Father’s will then it’s Father’s way

so Father use us for the kingdom’s needs
let our lives be your offering
teach us to be your hands and feet
so we may die to ourselves and pronounce our king
so we may die to ourselves and pronounce our king
so i may die to myself and pronounce my king
