Life here in Battambang, Cambodia has been quite the experience! Ministry started for my team and I this past Monday, and guess what… my ministry is teaching English all day! It’s a bit chaotic, because I have no idea what I’m doing to be completely honest, but thankfully, we have a God that has blessed us with the courage, faith and wisdom to do his good work. To tell you the truth, I never could’ve seen myself being a teacher, but I’m sure that the Lord is going to surprise me in ways that I cannot comprehend!
The first half of my day, my team and I bike to a Buddhist school to teach English. One of my teammates lauryn, and I teach a pre-school and a kindergarten class in the morning… it’s hectic. It’s also a little bit more difficult to do ministry there since we cannot share Jesus through our words or songs, but we can always share the love of the Father through our actions. The school we teach at is called Pannasastra, and I ask that you please pray for the students there and that their hearts are turned to the Lord through us.
The second half of my day is spent at Ezra ministries, and it’s the ministry that is right next to the house our squad is staying at! It is an English school that focuses on bringing young children to know the Lord through teaching english. It’s so beautiful to see young children who have been mostly raised in Buddhist homes come to Ezra so eager to learn about Jesus, and how he loves them. At Ezra, I get to teach two classes with another one of my teammates, Grace, and we both have a lot of fun with the students. They all call me “Teacher Bekah”, and they always greet me with a hug before class. I love how they just love us already only after a week, I don’t want to think about this, but it’s going to be such a hard goodbye next month.
Thank you for all the prayers for safety, health and God’s hand over all of us and the people of Cambodia. I’ve been so blessed so far. Thank you for your support!
God Bless you
Love, Bekah
