Dear Guatemala,
it’s been a little while, and I’ve missed you a lot. I can’t wait to see you soon. I’m having a hard time containing my excitement to love on your people, walk your streets, and share the gospel to your villages again. Let me just say thank you Lord for calling me to Guatemala over and over again.
I remember standing in a circle with a huge group of people who I barely knew in a small village in Guatemala. I remember the worship music playing, and I remember just raising my hands in praise; Guatemala you were the place where I learned how to worship in reverence of a king. I remember dedicating the houses we had built to the families and standing around laying our hands on them worshiping and praying aloud, declaring that the family inside would accept Christ; Guatemala you’re the place I learned to fervently pray to battle against the enemy. I remember sharing my testimony to your people for the first time, and laying my hands on them to pray as they were weeping and crying aloud to our father; Guatemala you’re the first place I truly felt like I encountered the Holy Spirit in the most intimate ways. I remember chasing little village children, playing with the orphans, handing out rice & beans to people who had no idea where their next meal would come from, praying for the sick and weary-hearted and the lost; Guatemala, you’re the place where I learned what it was to truly live like Jesus, and where I found my passion for missions. Thank you.
I know that this time around is going to be different, and I’m expecting it to be. It will be hard for me, but I’m trusting you God. I’m trusting you to show me in more beautiful ways why you keep calling me to this place. I’m trusting you to reveal many more things to me in the next two months and to just teach me new dimensions of your love and to just remember that your promises are always good. I have no doubt in my mind that you will grow me through this.
Guatemala, you’re like a second home to me. I have left a huge piece of my heart there, and I know that God sent me to you to show me how to love like He does.
God, I praise you and thank you for showing me that sharing the gospel has no limits. Thank you for shaping my heart and revealing things to me in the right moments.
See you soon, Guatemala!!!!
With love, Rebekah
