I am having the best time in Malaysia and it is rapidly coming to an end.  We have been working with three separate ministries and having too much fun on the side.

This is our first day at Eden Handicapped Facility.  Eden is a center for handicapped children- we were asked to clean up the yard before the kids got home from school and obviously had to wear these hats.

To the left- I am an expert sweeper.  To the right- you will see Weng Liang.  This kid will melt your heart if he doesn’t kill you with laughter.  He performs interpretive dance routines for us and sometimes plays a drum beat so we can have a turn. One day he jumped impressively high during a twirl and fell hard on his ankle which resulted in a doctor’s visit the next day. With his dancing limited, due to injury, he sat on the floor and danced moving only his arms and head. Thank you, Weng Liang.

To the left- Please meet Wey Shen.  One look from him and all my troubles melt away.  He is the sweetest little boy you will ever know, brilliant too.  He is diagnosed with a physical handicap that the doctors don’t know much about- distorting his face and causing the bones in his hands and feet to grow together.  That never once stopped him from holding my hand or from giving me the largest smile known to mankind.   To the right- That’s me, just dancing to the drum beat of Weng Liang.  Probably did this for 2 hours…

The second ministry we have been working with is called Lighthouse.  It is a drop-in center for the homeless and we help them cook and serve dinner.  To the left are the dinner plates, stacked to perfection.  And below is the most adorable woman named Cecille.  She volunteers everyday at the Lighthouse.  You wouldn’t know it by looking at her, but I think there is a lion living inside of her.  She is the feistiest 90 lb lady I have ever met and she is hilarious.  She rides her bike to work everyday and wears this get-up so as not to receive the suns harmful rays.

The last ministry, in which we have been most involved with, is called Kawan. It is also a drop-in center for those in need… of food and of general amenities such as; a shower, toilet, and resting area.

These are some of our friends from Kawan.

And like I said, we have been having too much fun.  Last Thursday we headed to Monkey Beach.
We did an hour and a half trek through the jungle and ended up on a pretty little beach, with monkeys.  These “cute” creatures were trying to steal all of our stuff, they managed to sneak an orange from Sarah’s    bag.  Very naughty
.  (DAD!… he really was a stealer monkey!!! just like me, except I’m not a real monkey.)

I mean look at this little monk, no shame.

And here is the thief, in all his glory.

We escaped the orange theives on a boat that was headed for sunny Mexico… or The Hard Rock Hotel.
We ended the day with Pizza… and getting kicked off Hard Rocks waterslides.

Lastly, meet our two new Muslim friends. Just kidding, it’s good ol’ Holly and I. We visited a mosque and they gave us Abaya’s to wear.  It was pretty cool to be able to wear one but I must say, they are SUPER toasty. And the 94 degree weather probably didn’t help.  We had a tour guide that answered all of our questions about the Islam religion and we were able to have good conversation.  He also loaded us up with tons of books and our very own Qur’an in English.

LOVE YOU ALL!
