My team and Team Jubilee are in La Cama for the month. It is a Mayan village located in the
middle of the jungle. The closest
town is Chichicastenango. The
scenery and the people here are beautiful. All 13 of us are staying at Pator Manuel’s home which they
cleared out for us. The living
situations are pretty primitive. We have all of our tents set up so we have some sort of privacy. The bathroom is an outhouse or you can
opt for the corn field. We do have
a shower that has hot water sometimes.

The weather here is a complete blessing from the Lord. It gets into the 70s during the day
with almost no humidity. There is
almost always a breeze and it feels amazing. It rains a pretty good bit here. It’s a good idea to keep your rain jacket with you. It will rain for 30 minutes and then be
done. At nighttime it gets pretty
cold. I wasn’t expecting it to be
this cool, but we are in the mountains at about 6000 ft elevation. The days are beautiful here and the
night sky is full of stars without any bright lights from the city to distract
you.

Our ministry here this month involves working on helping
them to build their church. They
have been working on it for three years and they are doing it all by hand. They are in the beginning stages of it
and it is a blessing to hear about their vision for a church for hundreds. We have been doing jobs such as
shoveling dirt, moving rocks,
digging, cutting wires and such. It has been hard work but I have enjoyed it so far. I feel like another part of our purpose
here is to encourage and build up the Pastor, his family, and his church
family. It has been encouraging
for them to have us come in and work alongside them. We have also been encouraged by their willingness to serve
us and bless us.

It has been amazing here so far. The people lead a simple yet very hardworking
lifestyle. They farm everything by
hand from corn, to coffee, to vegetables, and tons of fruit. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here
so far. The environment is so
welcoming and relaxing. Time is
not as much of an issue. The
people do their jobs well and don’t just rush to finish them. They are all eager to meet us and to
bless us. The children are
incredible. We have gotten to play
with them some during our off time. We have blessed by having the Pastor’s wife and daughter cook all of our
meals for us. The food has been
amazing!

This month so far has gone very smoothly. We are still learning about each other,
adjusting to the World Race lifestyle, and growing daily in our personal walks
with God. This month is a huge
opportunity to just bless these people with our service, encouragement, and
friendships as brothers and sisters in Christ.
