I don't think that words on a page can do justice to last month, but I am going to try to give you a glimpse of what I experienced and felt.
The Lord showed up in South Africa. He is moving in great and mighty ways. Pastor Danny and his wife Vivian have been obedient to the call and established a school that I felt priviledged to serve at.
School: Fellowship Bible Christian Church School is so much more than a school. It is a constant in these children's lives. It is a place that they come to receive Christ's love, an education, and food. It is a place where they are learning obedience and what it looks like to respect authority. It is a place where they are prayed over and loved so much it hurts.
So much more.
Children: The children captured my heart. It was so much more than teaching them to add and subtract. It was teaching them about God's love and that He has a plan for their lives. They need so much more that what I can give them, but God is in control. He allowed me to show them Christ's love through hugs, smiles and attention.
So much more.
Songs: I have never sung "Chugga, Chugga" (a Pathway children's ministry favorite) so many times in my whole life, but the children loved it. It is amazing how a simple song can give a glimpse of who God is, and the children are seeing and learning that.
So much more.
This month was so much more than ministry. It was life, love, family, hurting, wounds, leaning upon the Lord and coming to the conclusion that He is in control of all.
Last month really was so much more.
We have arrived safely in India and are staying in a village called Giddalur. We are living with a pastor and his family. In the short time we have been here we have already led a prayer meeting, where we preached the Gospel and prayed for people; been invited to two weddings and attended one, where Women of Oasis made their professional debut with "Lean on Me"; eaten curry for breakfast, lunch and dinner; taught some VBS songs on the roof in the rain; and gotten videotaped while eating.
We will be leading prayer meetings and spreading the Gospel door to door this month. Please pray that the Spirit will lead us and that we will be sensitive to His whispers.
