Where were you? Dubno, Ukraine

How did you get there? Bus from Brazoff, Romania, to L’viv, Ukraine. Our contacts picked us up there and drove us to Dubno

What did you do there? Taught English in the public schools in the morning, and held 5 English classes at the church each night (beginner teens, advanced teens, beginner adults, advanced adults, and English teachers)

Accommodations? We lived in an amazing home with a host family that spoiled us rotten. 🙂

Currency? Grivna $1 USD = 3RN (something like that, lol)

Anything you miss from America? Not particularly.

What was the best moment? At the end of the month we had a time of saying goodbye to our students, and they really blessed us with their kind words and gifts of appreciation.

What was the hardest moment? Teaching. I am not a teacher. haha

Top 3 foods? Oh. My. Goodness. Borshch, cabbage rolls, “healthy salad”…

Bottom 3 foods? Pickled tomato, breakfast fish, seafood pizza

Language(s) spoken/learned? Ukrainian. Slava Ukraine! I learned a small amount, but also taught myself to read some Cyrillic.

Biggest time you saw God show up? Wasn’t to me, but in Emily’s class, they were watching videos and talking about them, and one man brought in the skit to Lifehouse’s Everything, and asked her to explain to him who the man saving the woman was.

Anything else? At the end of the month, we were able to visit Auschwitz in Poland. I’ve studied it so much in the past, but it was so surreal to actually stand where it all happened.
