Where were you? Draganesti-Olt, Romania

How did you get there? Overnight sleeper train from Belgrade, Serbia, to the Serbian/Romanian border. 3-hour train to Bucharest, Romania where we met the rest of the squad. Then finally a 2-hour train to Draganesti.

What did you do there? Worked alongside Hope Church with 4 other teams, our team was the Mobile team, so during the week we started every day with prayer and worship, did door-to-door evangelism, handed out New Testaments, and during the weekends we went to neighbouring villages to do kids camps and church services.

Accommodations? Lived in a mission house with 4 other teams and a few locals. Shared communal bathroom and single kitchen. On weekend, my team lived in villages, one of which had no running water or indoor bathroom.

Currency? Lei. $1 USD = 3.2 RON

Anything you miss from America? Not particularly.

What was the best moment? On Easter weekend, a teammate and I travelled north to the city of Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, to spend the weekend with the family I visited on my last trip to Romania 7 years ago.

What was the hardest moment? Living in the mission house with so many other people got tiring as they were always walking through our bedroom on the way to the kitchen.

Top 3 foods? Cabbage rolls, Schnitzel, and mushroom spread on bread.

Bottom 3 foods? Nothing in particular. Again, we made most of our own food this month.

Language(s) spoken/learned? Romanian. I remembered a surprising amount from my previous trip 7 years ago.

Biggest time you saw God show up? Sharion and I met a Roma man named Titi, who had met many racers in the past, and had the opportunity to talk about faith and try to overcome some of the obstacles in his mind.

Anything else? It was really fun to be back to this country, as it’s the one other place I’ve been outside America. The country has changed a lot, and it was really cool to see more of the area.
