Memorable Moments of the Week

– Realizing that something isn’t quite right with your pale teammate stumbling down the hall, who then proceeds to slide down the wall towards the floor. In what now seems to be like slow motion, somehow I managed to move from where I was standing to where Dex was in the hall just in time to lower him to the floor, and then Amanda, nurse on the other team, managed to appear by Dex’s side lightning fast . After laying on the floor for a bit and regaining some color, he was able to sit up but then proceeded to throw up all over the hall. We all decided he just wanted to add some drama to his first time ever throwing up in his life…for real, first time ever! However, after one more episode of throwing up and some rest Dex is fully recovered. Praise the Lord!

-Hopping off the top bunk after watching a movie with four other teammates, to turn around and find a scorpion (yes that’s right a scorpion!) in the bed we were all just in watching the movie!

Look closely at the tip of the shoe and you will see our scorpion friend….

-Bouncing down the dirt roads of the Honduran mountains while sitting on a huge can of food in the trunk of an SUV tending to two sick squad mates on the way to the hospital. About 2 minutes into the drive I hear Christy whisper the words “Rebecca, the pot is full…the pot is full… in reference to the pot she had been throwing up in…There was no where to put the contents of the pot except outside of the car and we weren’t stopping the car. So I prayed (I really did pray) that I would be able to get the contents of the pot out of the window without any spillage on Christy or myself because I would have for sure thrown up. Somehow I did manage to lean over the back seat while bouncing down the dirt roads and toss the contents of the pot out of the window in one smooth motion. To this day I don’t know how I managed to do that, I truly believe the Lord guided my hand because he knew I couldn’t handle any spillage.

In all honesty this has been a rough week for all of us. Six of us have been sick at one point or another, and the healthy teammates have either been tending to the sick or doing ministry shorthanded; so we are all exhausted! However, everyone is back to their full health and we are all ready to jump back into ministry tomorrow. Although it has been a tough couple of days, we have witnessed God do incredible things in Los Pinos. There will be more updates to come on the crazy things the Lord is doing in another blog, but I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on what has been going on. Thank you so, so, so much for all of your support! Without your prayer and financial support I would not be able to love on these children who desperately need to feel the Lord’s love! I promise to update more on Los Pinos next Wednesday!
