I wanted to give you a glimpse of what this past week has looked like for the women of team W.O.W. Each day started with a 6:30 AM run through our neighborhood. Yes, I am still attempting to run everyday. Even though I have not yet reached the point of enjoying our daily runs, I do enjoy the time I get to spend with the Lord as I run. One blessing about being up before the sun rises is that we get to catch a glimpse of the magnificent sun as it begins to peek out from behind the mountains on the mainland.

The beautiful sunrise!

After our morning runs, we quickly prepare for our day so we won’t be late for the bus. We take the bus to a local hospital, our ministry location for the week.

Adventist Hospital, the hospital we volunteer at.

Upon arriving at the hospital we check in at the volunteer coordinator’s office to get our name tags and very fashionable vests to wear during our time at the hospital. We then head up to the development office to gather all of the supplies we need to help raise funds for the hospital’s heart fund. All of the money we raise goes directly into a fund that helps pay for life saving heart surgeries for children and adults who otherwise couldn’t afford them. In order to help raise money, we walk around the lobby and waiting rooms of the hospital to ask for donations as well as sell various products.

Modeling one of the products we sell, a stuffed fish 🙂

In all honesty, I am not a huge fan of selling things especially when it involves selling things or asking for donations from people who are waiting to be admitted to be seen by doctors. However, to my surprise, people were quite willing to help out a good cause. People who could barely afford to pay their own bills were willing to give whatever they could to help others receive medical care they desperately needed. This is one of many times on the race that I have been truly humbled by people who give until it hurts. The people in the hospital may not have a lot, but they are willing to give whatever they can to help others. Our goal each day is to raise 1,200 Ringgits, which is about $400, and to our surprise we reached that goal on our first full day at the hospital! Even though we may feel as if we are not having that much of an impact as we sell things, we try to remember that with each passing day a child or adult is even closer to being able to have the life saving heart surgery they need.

This week was a little tough towards the beginning when I felt like we were not having a Kingdom impact. However, as the week progressed, the Lord reminded me that He has a purpose in everything we do. He will not put us anywhere without a purpose, even if our small picture view of things tells us otherwise. He sees the big picture and orchestrates EVERYTHING for HIS glory! Even though there are days that I feel I have no purpose or impact, I can rest in the truth that God is working and moving around us. Even when I don’t see the purpose in things, I try to remember that the Lord does have a purpose and I need to pour everything I have into every moment of everyday. I get excited knowing that my Creator, Father, and King has a purpose for every minute of MY life! My King showers me with His grace and mercy everyday; the least I can do is live everyday for Him.

“Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.â€ -Romans 12:1
