As many of you who followed my World Race journey know, I spent about five weeks of the race in Kenya. On the race I realized that the Lord had given me a heart for children, especially children who are orphaned or abused.  I want them to know that they are valued, loved, and created for a purpose. I want to provide a space where they feel safe, loved, and cared for.  Above all, my heart’s desire is that they know that they have a Heavenly Father who adores them and has an incredible purpose for their lives.

When I first arrived in Kenya I had a sense of home and the fullness of life I experienced while serving there was incredible!  During our time in Kenya we lived with a local pastor and his family doing various types of ministry.  On one of our days off we went to a local coffee shop and happened to run into a group of American missionaries who lived in Kitale.  One of guys in the group, Bud, invited us to come out to visit the children’s village he and his wife Kimberly started called Mattaw (Click here to check out their website). We took him up on his offer and visited Mattaw for an afternoon.  The moment we arrived I felt such a sense of joy and peace.  As Bud started sharing about the vision behind Mattaw, and their future plans, the Holy Spirit gave me such a sense of belonging.  I couldn’t explain it but I just had a feeling I would be back there one day……
