Now that I’ve been home for four months, I think it is finally time to share some final stories, and to answer the many questions you all sent me.
So… without any further ado:
MONTH 11.
I N D O N E S I A
We began in the wonderful city of Jakarta, Indonesia where we met our wonderful friend Martha at Stay Inn Hostel!

Unfortunately, there were demonstrations in the city and we were asked to head somewhere else for our safety.
We moved to Yogyakarta, Indonesia. There I got to celebrate Eid, participate in local traditions (such as a blindfolded walk across a park), explore the city, and get to know travelers and locals alike! One day we even got lost and ended up making friends with a beautiful group of local girls (pictured below).

We went on to Banyuwangi and Malang, Indonesia! After an uncomfortable and long train ride, we got to go to a slum that was painted by college students. It became a tourist destination, and the locals were getting pulled out of poverty because of it! We even got to hike a volcano… which had too many clouds on it to see any views. See our photoshopped photos below of what the view was supposed to be (and a special creation by Riley!).

Before we knew it, we were at the end of the Race and we met up with our whole squad for a final debrief on the island of Bali, Indonesia… Here are a few highlights from that:

Last but not least, our squad had our final goodbye party. Here are the crazy, amazing people I spent this past year with:

“And we will come back home, and we will come back home, and we will come back home agaaain…”
