Let me tell you a little bit about what a weekend in the life of a World Racer looks like.

Myself and two teammates, Hannah and Katie, started out our Saturday morning by taking a run into town. It´s about 2 miles from the Bible college where we are staying to town so it was a good little jaunt!

We ran some errands, went to the bank, got a cup of coffee and picked up some laundry at the Laundromat. It´s so great, you drop it off and they have it clean and folded for you the next day for just a few dollars!

Next, I was able to make a few phone calls with my calling card, it was so great to talk to you Mom and Dustin!!!

After that our host, Eleazar and his wife, came and picked us up from town and drove most of the rest of our team to an amazing waterfall! (please read more about Eleazar and his awesome ministry at jennifersmith.theworldrace.org. under The Faith To Move To The Mountains). We were able to actually walk behind the waterfall and go pretty deep inside a cave where there is another waterfall! We had to wear our headlamps because it was so dark in there, but it was so cool! We even saw some bats sound asleep over our heads.

We took the next couple of hours to eat lunch and relax in the sun. We swam in the beautiful, cold clear water and had a great time!

When we were about to head out, Eleazar asked if we would be interested in meeting a pastor friend of his on our way back home. Of course a friend of Eleazar´s is a friend of ours, so we happily agreed. We were riding in the back of his truck drying off and taking in the beauty of God´s creation as we started to enter the village. We were nearing the church when Eleazar stopped the truck and asked us which one of us was going to preach. He explained that as soon as we got there all of the children of the village and many adults would come and want to know why the gringos came to visit. We were taken by surprise but quickly assimilated to this idea and got excited about this opportunity!

Before we knew it we were inside the church building and shy children were streaming in! Jimmy was able to tell them the story of how Jesus fed the 5,000 and we sang a few songs with them. We decided to liven things up with a wheel barrel race down the center aisle. Guess who got picked….none but YOURS TRULY! It was a blast! My palms are a little bruised from the concrete, but it was totally worth it to have all this little brown eyes shining and cheering for me.

We were able to pray for the sick that wanted prayer and also for the pastor his ministry and family.

Just when thought this blog was over….we went back to the college and had a giant birthday party for all our January birthdays.

Well, there you have it. Our team motto is work hard, play hard and we are living up to it!!!
