We are living in a hotel in San Juan Guatemala for the next three weeks.  We are blessed to be on the edge of Lake Atitlan overlooking 3 volcanoes!

It looks like the majority of our “official” ministry time will be working at a Christian elementary school that happens to be right across the street from our hotel!

The school is still under construction, but we have been very happy to visit and meet the leadership. They truly have the children and community in mind and are committed to providing God-centered, affordable schooling to the kids. They only charge about $2.50 per month per child, but sadly some families still cannot afford this.

We will be teaching English 5 days a week and possibly some computer classes. Most of the teachers know at least some English, but end up only teaching grammar because they can’t speak English very well.

Our other ministries have included visiting some very poor families and widows in a neighboring community. My heart broke this afternoon when I met a family of 12 that is living in deplorable conditions and have been through more hard times than many of us can imagine.

I am excited about being here and the Lord is teaching me what it truly means to live a lifestyle of ministry. Whether I am sounding out English words with 7 year olds, praying for the widow in her shack, or buying fruit in the market, God is showing me how to abide in Him and my prayer is that I can be His hands and feet to the nations.

It is an indescribable blessing to be on the World Race! Thank each of you again for your financial support and prayers. I could not have dreamed of doing this without you.

Thank you also for your comments on my blogs, you don’t know what a blessing it is to know someone is actually reading these things, haha!

Keep praying for Guatemala!
