I’m Rebecca or Becca or Bex recently added Rivkah, from a friend who loves Hebrew, but NEVER Becky.
My birthday is in December, so I will be 32 during this race. (At the time of this writing that makes me the oldest member of the team, but I have only met a few racers so far.)
Born in Minnesota, raised in Wyoming (home), I have been in Colorado for the last four years, and am currently homeless with a base in Alabama (my parent’s new home).
Travel has always been my dream. To travel not as a tourist but to experience other cultures and meet new people. My family has RVed most of the continental US and Alaska. I’ve been to Canada, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy, the Bahamas, The Kingdom of Tonga (South Pacific), and Haiti. The last two in the last year. Tonga was a volunteer trip and Haiti a missions trip.
Despite being blessed with these opportunities, I have only recently surrendered travel to God and believed that this is really His will for me. I thought I had to get a degree and build a career here in the USA. Over the last four years my relationship with God has grown and deepened tremendously. My walk is closer and my understanding of God and His ways has expanded. Before moving to Denver I believed but now I hear Him and experience Him. He has healed and freed me of the excuses and fears that were holding me back from walking the path He planned into the Promised Land He has prepared for me. Its incredible and awesome that the King of the Universe cares that much for me.
My BA is in elementary education, but I have only taught outside of the classroom and formal education. Those experiences lead me to discover a passion and calling as an archivist and librarian. I moved to Denver in 2010 to get my master’s in library and information science. Graduated in March 2013. Some day I hope to have a ministry that supports missionaries and pastors in developing countries as they build school and church libraries.
